　　Speaker: Prof. Daniel C. Levy 

　　Prof. Daniel C. Levy is a distinguished professor of higher education at the University of Albany, SUNY, the United States. His research interests include private higher education, comparative higher education, political science and Latin America. His recent research concentrates on global expansion of private higher education sponsored by Ford Foundation. He is the director of Program for Research on Private Higher Education. 

　　As a distinguished professor in higher education, Prof. Levy published many books and articles. He authored and edited more than ten books, such as Higher Education and the State in Latin America: Private Challenges to Public Dominance (University of Chicago Press, l986), Private Education: Studies in Choice and Public Policy (Oxford University Press 1986). He has been invited by prestigious universities and international organizations to give speeches and provide consultation. 

　　This presentation will concern broad issues of private higher education development under the global contexts, including size, classic and fresh patterns, private and public partnership, for-profit higher education, threats to the private higher education, etc.

　　（演讲者Daniel C. Levy教授为国际著名高等教育研究学者，在私立高等教育研究方面具有独到的专长，他曾经于80年代在耶鲁大学与Burton Clark等合作开展高等教育研究。他为Burton Clark等主编的《高等教育国际百科全书》撰写了“私立高等教育”词条，他撰写的《拉美高等教育与国家》已经成为研究私立高等教育的经典著作。Levy教授经常受世界银行等国际机构邀请，提供教育决策咨询。他此次到北京就是应世界银行的邀请，拟于1月17日在友谊宾馆举行的发展经济学年会上发表演讲。）
